Rapallo · Fresco sky

The photographed Rapallo fresco itself: figures and clouds, muted blue-green sky, ochre light and weathered plaster, repeated as circular medallions.

The construction

An elliptical crop of the photograph maps into a circular tile in {8,3}. A screen-size-adaptive triangle mesh carries the original pixels through the same hyperbolic isometries used by the vector motifs.

About this study

Actual photograph, not an AI repainting. The inset crop excludes the foreground columns and most architecture; it also omits parts of the outer fresco. Ellipse-to-circle mapping is an approximate normalization, not a calibrated reconstruction of the dome. Wear and original lighting remain visible.
